Immanence Passes Through a Virtual Proto-Skin

Really appreciate the new blog design from Adrian at Immanence. Long one of my favorite intermittent para-academic blogs (he is not so regular a poster as to develop a definite rhythm), the main drawback was that posts were difficult to read and navigate. Looking at it now it is like being opened into a clean, white tundra. Long live the steppe.

(unfortunately, at the moment it does not allow a WordPress login for comments – though it prompts one – but surely this is something to be technically fixed.)

[edit: See Adrian’s comment below for an explanation.]

  1. Kvond – I was very surprised to see this post, since I hadn’t come up with a new blog design yet for Immanence. What you refer to is not the real Immanence, though it’s also not an impostor. My university server is slowly transitioning its blogs from Movable Type to WordPress, and I’ve offered my blog as a guinea pig for some experimentation. I didn’t intend to do away with the overall design, though I would like to improve the readability, and I like versatility that WordPress offers… I also didn’t realize this would be public – and that it would be so quickly found. That said, I appreciate your comments. I might survey my readers at some point, when I have a new design worth showing the world.

By the way, I’ve been missing your Frames/Sing, and it’s good to see you back (in a new guise). Good title, nice clear design (though I liked the old one). Looking forward to more conversation.

  2. Adrian,

So you know, the way I “found” the new proto-version was that when it went on-line it sent me all the ping-backs from the links to my articles that you referenced. I just traced the new ping-back and assumed this was your new blog skin. As for which version it will be, I have to admit that I was very cramped at your blog, small type and not very inter-connective, and white on blue type is hard to read (at least for me). I very much liked the white-out. But I am just a voice in the wilderness here.

As for the old Frame /sing, that boat has sailed. I did like the design, but it was a “paid” for design freedom, and I chose not to renew it $$. This is more than a new guise, as you might be able to tell, a blogging from a different place, in a different direction.

I do like the recent content of your blog quite a bit. Look foward to seeing more.
